About Us

In 2020, Dinesha Stanley, M.S., CCC-SLP, a Bilingual Speech Pathologist (former Bilingual Teacher), created a speech therapy box to help SLPs, parents, and care givers continue to help their child carryover their speech therapy as we were navigating through a global pandemic. It was a difficult time for everyone, but she did not want them to lose what they had learned, especially not knowing how long we would be at home dealing with the pandemic restrictions.
As a previous Bilingual (English and Spanish) teacher, I can recall holding a book in English and verbally translating it into Spanish as each page was turned, or having to use a totally different book altogether. This saddened me because my students wanted to read the same books as the monolingual classes. Although my students were bilingual, they benefited from hearing the book in their native language first, then in the English language afterwards. It supported their understanding of content, concepts, and overall comprehension of the book. Therefore, the Chatterpillar box includes the same book in both languages and materials in both English and Spanish.
Now as a BUSY school-based Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist, I understand the need for ready-made speech therapy lessons for myself and my colleagues. I curated this box to take the planning out of therapy for my colleagues, which is 1 less thing they have to worry about!
